Don’t you just love Halloween? I do, but not just because you get to dress up, eat copious amount of candy and scare people (which is fun too)but because of the mood. You know, not the festive mood you get from plastic noses and fake fangs but the dark kind of scary vibe? A glowing pumpkin in the dark, a candle flickering and a branch scraping across your window…
Not so long ago Halloween was known as Samhain, the feast of the dead and the jack-o’-lanterns were meant to scare faeries and spirits away and the masks were worn to deter demons and stop them from possessing you. Just thinking about the origin of all the traditions is enough to give me a little chill. So much I’m going to put together a short story (hopefully in time) for Halloween!
My camera ran out of batteries just as I finished getting some decorations up so these are pictures I took in the store with my phone(s), not the best quality but I’m so totally stoked about some of the things I found so I wanted to share!
Like these awesome cakes! Aren’t they fab? I would love to have one of these. Maybe I could make one…anyone know any good recipes?
Also this one. It was only like 5 bucks and I was going to buy it but then I remembered – I have tons and tons of mugs already. And I only use two of them… still, pretty sweet!
And last but not least, a pirate skeleton! There was a glow in the dark one but since I was going to hang it on my door I thought a paper one would be better (I live in an apartment so bigger risk of someone stealing it than rain).
Some other Halloween-ish things I found!
